Son of Jean, jazz singer and painter, and Lise Proulx Yves was born on the Plateau Mont-Royal in Montreal on September 8, 1958. A graduate of the Institut des arts graphiques du cégep Maisonneuve, Yves is the creator of the posters for the Montreal Jazz Festival.

Festival president Alain Simard, who asked Yves to design a special poster for its 25th anniversary, wrote, “We have found an artist who has a very strong sense of what a poster is. In 1999, Yves won the Lux Trophy for Illustrator of the Year.
