The fortieth Annual General Meeting of the Association des Archambault d’Amérique, held on Sunday June 11, 2023, in Repentigny, was a great success. Some sixty people attended, including several children and even a three-month-old baby. Also in attendance were two founding members, Madeleine and Pierre, as well as Lilian Farrell, wife of founding President Camille, and the latter’s son François and his family.
After an address by our President Raynald, the Annual General Meeting got underway on schedule. Several topics were discussed, and you can read a summary in our next bulletin.
All guests enjoyed a generous mechoui meal. After the group photo, we were able to enrich our knowledge with conferences by Richard and Pierre.
Richard first presented and commented on a series of slides on the relationship between our ancestors and the natives in the early days of the colony. Click here to see Richard’s presentation. Pierre then spoke about Hormisdas Archambault, who left Repentigny for South Dakota, generating a large family of descendants. He recalled some of the character’s feats of arms, described in a document given to each member.
Following the presentations, a draw was held for several items donated by various individuals and organizations, and the President presented certificates of appreciation to Madeleine and Pierre for their work with the association. To Richard and Diane, he presented a painting of Jacques’ grandson’s house, in recognition of their many years of involvement with the association.
This memorable day ended around 4 p.m. when all the participants congratulated themselves on having met once again and left wishing to see each other again next year.
